All the links I try for Tricare don’t lead me somewhere. Does anyone know where I can REALLY see what is and isn’t covered for military fams?

de bossy one
go to va.gov and click on refund-tricare. if you can’t find what you are looking for there, call tricare on the toll free line they have.they’ll send you a refund book, and it will power nearly everything you may want, but some questions on refund would have to be had from tricare reps.

[Tricare Deers] If your spouse is on your DEERS, does she have access to tricare?

tricare deers

Tricare Deers
I am TDY and my spouse was admitted to the hospital. i never updated my tricare since we were married, but she is on my DEERS. i was told that automatically enrolls her in tricare. is this right?
my wife is having gallstones indifferent from her pancreas and her gallbladder indifferent also, with a weeklong hospital stay. how much will tricare ordinary cover? can i place her on prime and have it cover this?

my 6th tab
Yes.
Tommy
Yes, DEERS means that your wife is recognized by he military as a dependent, and they get all the same refund you do.
Mrsjvb
she has Tricare STANDARD automatically which means there will be copays and deductobles that will be out of pocket for the hospital stay. you must say tricare imemdiately( technically within 24 hours of being admitted to the hospital) to engage coverage.
cassie L
After my husband got me enrolled in DEERS we had to go to the tri-care office on post and enroll me into tricare before I was covered. And it did not take effect until the 1st of the next month. Call Tri-Care for the most dependable info.
cattma
Yes your wife will be covered under TRICARE Ordinary/Extra (high and mighty she’s in your DEERS and everything is right.)

Means there is a the makings of upto $ 1,000 out of pocket deprivation per fiscal year per family. Including a deductible (based on rank of up to $ 150, then a 20% cost share of Tricare’s allowable charge).

I was wondering when enrolling my spouse into deers, will i be able to get the Tricare done at that time too or do i have to wait for couple weeks for the wrap to come home. I will be going with her to get everything done at the nearest installion/base. I just wanna get a hint of what to do.

Becuz I am examination people say something about wait 2 weeks to hear the Tricare wrap to enroll….

soldiers wifey
My husband enrolled me in DEERS and TriCare at the same place, same day. The only thing was that I wasn’t assigned a doctor until my letter at home (apx 2 weeks later) with my PCM. But I was allowable to go to the urgent circumstances room and TriCare covered it until I got my letter.
USAFisnumber1
You take her along with her ID and your wedding ceremony license down to the base personnel office. You get her a military ID card and enroll her into DEERS. Once she is in DEERS system she is covered for indemnity. You do not have to wait for the TRICARE paperwork to catch up to you. All that is about is which kind of TRICARE you want, Ordinary, Prime, etc. No huge deal.
NWIP
As soon as her information is entered into DEERS she is automatically enrolled into Tricare Ordinary. With Ordinary there is a yearly deductible and a co-pay to go and see a civilian provider who is ordinary by Tricare. once she has the ID card she can change to Tricare Prime in which there is no co-pay or deductible but you are to go to a MTF (Military Behavior Facility) and are given a PCM. To see anyone besides the PCM you need a referral. Some people stay with Ordinary so they have more options and others go with Prime.

With Ordinary no card is expected in the mail and the policy # is your SSN. She needs to memorize that. It will also be used especially the last 4 digits for Prime as well when booking appointments.

If she does go with Prime it doesn’t start straight away. If she enrolls before the 20th of the month then it starts the 1st of the next month (enrolls Nov 19th, starts Dec 1st). But if she enrolls after the 20th it doens’t start until the following month (Nov 23rd starts Jan 1st). Until then she can go to an ordinary civilian provider and if de rigueur can use ER on base.

Now if you are going to Basic then she cannot change to Prime until she has her ID card. The form to get the ID card comes to her around week 3 or 4 and is Form DD1172.

Hello Suu,

No. Once your spouse’s name is entered into DEERS you have automoatic Tricare Ordinary. The health check care is endorsed from the date on the ID card.

You don’t want the other options as it restricts you to fastidious providers.

I once had selected one of those options and there was only “ONE” doctor in my area what signed up to work for the Tricare price. And, he was 20 miles away and the clinic/hospital was 2 blocks away from my home.

It was “stupid” to not be with the clinic/doctors/hospital nearest to me.

So, I went back to Tricare Ordinary. Then you can choose any place to go for health check care.

The Tricare wrap is just a large envelope with all the information in it. Your wife only needs her ID Card with her health check consent entered on it and you as the sponsor.

Of course, it has been 20 years since I retired but I now use Medicare and Tricare together. Medicare pays first and Tricare pays second.

Besides that, the hospitals and health check providers “money off” their fees to get the Tricare business. They know that it is guaranteed payment from the military and they don’t have to worry about people not being able to pay the bills in this nation.

Best wishes,

I know these are separate tricare regions, but i feel like I need to get a head start on result a doctor, hospital ect. Does any one know how this works in lackland- sanantonio? I looked at the tricare web site and it had lists of obs in that area, but i’m wondering if I have to see a mtf doctor, or what hospital I will have to go to? Has anyone been there? Any other advice on moving while pregnant would be fantastic. I am plotting to leave in march and drive to texas with my 18 month ancient and my husband will be being paid orders in may. (he is a spanish linguist we know he will be going there) I have family I can stay with. Baby is due in July and I just want to get prenatal behavior and start to find a house and get matured there. Any advice will be fantastic
do i have to go to mtf or can i see doctors off post?

GeauxTigers!!
You should be golden in San Antonio. Wilford Hall Health check Center on Lackland is huge – high and mighty it’s still opened (did I hear a rumor it was dying?) Anyway, San Antonio is a huge military town, so you won’t have any distress result a doctor either on or off-base.

Break the drive up into small chunks and do your calf exercises while on the road!!

Not sure about the area. Here is site to help you find housing though. http://www.ahrn.com/ and this site is full of other tips. http://www.militaryonesource.com/skins/MOS/home.aspx

[Tricare Help Line] 100% Disabled Veteran not liked by their neighbors?

tricare help line

Tricare Help Line
Do you know of any or are you also a 100% DAV that has this problem I know of two others that do

I am a retired Coast Guardsmen with my injuries in the line of duty
I am also a 100% DAV and the people

in the town that we live in don’t like us all that much since of the pay we get I know of moving to a new home but it follows us with the despise of the people that live with in a stones throw of our home

We get a nice income free unique DAV auto license plates

40% Home material goods tax saving

And being retired Coast Guard we the wife and I have all base privileges and Tricare health coverage

I am always in the towns parades help out my national at church and any where we are at

The rock is that when people ever talk to us they always bring up all the money we get and the tax breaks we get and get to go to Wright Pats base BX and Cx

Then they also know that being Tricare the wife and I never have a health check bill to worry about

I always tell them that America takes care of its own when they are injured i the line of duty

But it is always in the back ground

You two have not anything to worry about for the rest of your lives

And the rest of us do we re not as lucky as you

My neighbors have no thought how much money I make from my job. Why? since it isn’t any of their business. You might reckon about not telling your neighbors your private business either.

Are you really relentlessly disabled? or did you luck out when the VA gave you that 100% rating, and your neighbors watch you play basketball in your driveway after you brag about your monthly check and all your refund?

I am sorry that you were disabled, and I thank you for your benefit, but don’t be a douchebag.

ATRUESOLDIER
Hello, I am sorry that you are facing this type of discrimination. Your neighbors should be proud of you for serving your country. Maybe they look down on you a small since of the CG, but it should not matter what branch you served. The point is you served your country. You living in OH close to a AF base. I recently retired Army and my HOR was Ohio, but i dare not return to that state. Unlike you i was mistreated by the state. I was told when i applied for my VA refund i will most likely be eligible for 100% disability. Im still coming up on my rating. I also have registered with the DAV. My proposition is you go to the coastal region where you will be closer to more people just like you. I did and like it here. When those people tell you “You two have not anything to worry about for the rest of your lives and the rest of us do we re not as lucky as you” That means they are jealous you were taken care of for serving your country. You should tell them, they should have joined the military.

[What Does Tricare Prime Cover] Tricare Prime and visiting family out of city?

what does tricare prime cover

What Does Tricare Prime Cover
I am now pregnant and plot to visit my family who lives over 9 hours away, what happens if I get sick can I just go to any E.R. and be seen and will Tricare cover it? Or how does that work?

Ed Jasie
is there an 800 telephone number in your hand book?
cullodenwarrior
I had this problem when we lived in Texas and we were PCSing. If you are more than I reckon it is 36 weeks pregnant and leave your area and need to go to the ER for a pregnancy correlated issue, or go into labor outside your area then Tricare WILL NOT pay for it. They expect you to stay close to home as you get near your due date. If you get sick and it is a right life or death urgent circumstances then go to the ER and they will pay for it. If not to get Tricare to pay for it you need tall the Tricare hotline number for your region (which you can find at www.tricare.mil) and get praise to go to the local ER or doctor.
Mrsjvb
if you are going to be there at least 30 days you should switch your Tricare Region.

if not no need to t do anything. in an urgent circumstances you have like 48 hours to call tricare and get praise for care

[Tricare Military Health Care] Pregnancy care with military insurance?

tricare military health care

Tricare Military Health Care
Well, I don’t live near a military base (that I really know of) and my husband is stationed in Fort Hood. We’re now TTC and I’m apprehensive about the whole military health care thing. The state I am residing in now does not have any Military Behavior Facilities. The bordering nurse midwife that is covered by tricare prime is pretty far. Its not out of the inquiry far but awkwardly far. I really don’t want an OB/GYN from the horror tales I’ve heard about being paid unseen or over-medicalizing and I don’t like hospitals. Has anyone out there had a home birth or midwife helped birth with Tricare if at all possible prime)?

Glenna
You need to contact Tri-care and give reasons for your circumstances. Who do you now use as your Gynecologist? They can refer you to an OB (if they don’t also give up babies) and you can get that OB vacant owing to Tri-Care. Tri-Care representatives are usually VERY forthcoming and helpful. Just call them up and talk to them. They’ll help you out in any way you can. Excellent Luck TTC.
Mom of 2 one on the way!1/27/09
I have the same concerns as you, I now have my husbands indemnity but he is about to enlist in the army which then my indemnity switches to tri-care I am worrid my OB I am seeing now won’t accept my indemnity the bordering army base from here is pretty far and I am by now so pleased with my hospital and doctor choice I wish I knew more about this.
**Jo is due April 12**
You should call tricare and tell them your circumstances. Also if you go into labor and can’t make it to your doctor or the base that is far away a hospital has to except your indemnity and tricare will pay for it. Usually if you are not near by a doctor they use then they can always refer you out. You just may have to co-pay.

[Veterans Tricare] If a Government run health care is so BAD does that mean we been screw%$ our veterans close to a 100 years now?

veterans tricare

Veterans Tricare
I mean myself I feel tricare is pretty excellent, I’ve never had any problems dealing with them. Futhermore Bush 1 tried a slogan back in the early 90′s ” saying if you reckon complete healthcare is excellent go question a canadian”. Well I have and all of them like it

The VA is not TriCare.

TriCare is a civilian run, government funded program underwritten by major indemnity companies.

The VA is a government run hospital system.

Learn the alteration.

Not all Canadians like their complete health care. If that were right then why do they come to America for care?

Wing chair Idol #1
Excellent point! I am a disabled military veteran who likes the care I hear at my nearest VA (about 122 miles away from where I live). The Republicans’ intent was to PRIVATIZE this vital store, to which we ALL objected with mailed postcards or phone calls to representatives, so funding was CUT drastically (sort of a “starve the beast” approach to extort falling in line). Now that President Obama has been in office, we have INCREASED FUNDING and I can tell the positive alteration every time I have an appointment—less wait time, more face time with the doctors, no more “privatized dental care,” more qualified staff hired, prolonged services, etc. Like you, I’m a pleased camper on this one.

Glad to hear the Veterans are being treated well today. My father was a WW ll Veteran,3 bronze stars. What did he get for serving his country?Had a burst appendix nearly died, they lost him in a entrance,he rolled off the table pulled his I.V.cart down the hall to find a name to help him, then since there was no rooms available he was place in a linen closet. That was his room. And his final thank you.At his funeral it was to cold for them to give him this 21 gun salute.I for one quiver at the plotting of Government run health care.Glad i am not claustrophobic.

HELLO hello hello….ECHO echo echo!! Abruptly nobody has anything to say.

Tater yes I am!

RJC
So the simple proclamation “those refund cannot be sustained” in your mind means the republicans are trying to take veterans refund and where does the “repulicans” come into play?
I’m seeing alot of ignorance of fact here.
Taterbug*
When you say Republicans I sure hope you are talking about the ones in Govt….. As my husband is a ret VN vet… I don’t reckon you know what you are talking about… Its not I or anyone else… its your liberal govt that is up to their shite….The normal person doesn’t really get a say in it… and that has been proven with obamas agenda time and time again!

Does my own research thank you very much…. as I said its GOVT… not the american people so dont blame ALL republicans…. I reckon you need to do your research… I support the troops dear… as I stated my husband is a RETIRED VIET NAM VET and I support them more then what he ever got…

Pluto C. Rat
They like the war and the hi-tech k@lling gear, and they like paying for all that (trillions of $ ) – it makes the US rich the richest people in description…

…but they can’t stand paying for the low and effective class humans that risk life and limb – not even a hospital meal. It all falls into their classification of “slavery.”

onegrtchf
This is simply one of those Democrat propagandist tactics used to recommend we are heartless and mean to make them starve and walk around without proper Health check/psychological care. It is the same tactics you fools tried to use when you said we were threatening to take away Social Wellbeing and Medicare from Seniors, and leave them cold hungry and flow of blood in the streets. Why don’t you exhibit some investigative prowess and find out who is REALLY behind it, and then your eyes will be opened to a truth you may be able to accept.

My friend is a General in the Inhabitant Guard and he is telling me that what you are examination isn’t coming from the channels you are ranting about, but from the very cowards who never picked up a rifle or pistol to defend hostile to the very tyranny you were sworn to fight hostile to, Nameless or DOMESTIC………………………………………..

I highly doubt that the attitude of some Republicans means that is the attitude of all Republicans.

Btw, not all Vet programs in fact work anyway.

[What Does Tricare Dental Cover] How can I disenroll myself from Tricare?

what does tricare dental cover

What Does Tricare Dental Cover
my husband went UA and I dont wish to hear Tricare anymore. I have a new indemnity that I am pleased with which covers health check and dental, but, tricare is REFUSING to remove me from their benefit. What can I do?

auditor4u2007
There is no way to disenroll. If you are in Tricare ordinary, and your not paying anything, what do you care? If your in Tricare Prime, stop paying the premiums, and you’ll be reverted back to ordinary.
If you are in Tricare ordinary, even if you have other indemnity, why would you refuse it? Doesn’t make sense. I can’t believe that your new indemnity covers 100% of all costs for all services. If there is any deductible, Tricare always is listed as a secondary indemnity carrier. So, your new indemnity covers the majority and Tricare picks up where the other leaves off. Contracted your hubby might have gone UA, but eventually he’ll get caught. In the mean time, I believe that you are still eligible.
Navy Sailor - GAI
Same answer as before. Maybe you need to work on result your husband or if you know where he is get him to turn himself in and maybe they will discharge him and in doing so they will kick you both out of DEERS and Tricare.
Mangy Coyote
The problem is that as far as TRICARE is apprehensive, your husband (the benefit member) is the one that has signed up his family for coverage. The dilemma is that the military (based on the term UA, I assume he is Navy) mandates that members provide apposite health check coverage for their families; so since he signed you up, only he can disenroll you, without some sort of exceptional effort. That is so that a despondent dependent can’t claim non-coverage, or run up high health check bills for a member to pay.
On the other hand – you don’t have to use TRICARE. It will be there, and most indemnity companies will consider it an bonus supplemental indemnity. But if you make no claim, there should be no problem. Have you questioned the regional TRICARE folks how to disenroll? You can try the link below.
OldeSalt
